Manchester City will look to get back to their winning ways today after losing to Southampton this past weekend. They need the points to stay ahead of Chelsea who is only six points out of second place. Newcastle’s great form should bode well in this match but City could hit the net early and Newcastle might not have enough power to compete.

Pre-match Steve Bruce has noted his side are suffering somewhat of an injury crisis with Andy Carroll, Isaac Hayden, Sean Longstaff and Jamaal Lascelles all sidelined ahead of Tuesday’s meeting at the Etihad. Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin have also been labelled as doubts for the trip to Manchester.

The main absentee for City is all time leading goalscorer, Sergio Aguero due to a knee injury ruling him out for the rest of the Premier League season. There is no doubt we will see some squad rotation from the side that lost to Southampton at the weekend, as Guardiola has done across all of his side’s outings since the Premier League restart.

Newcastle United and Manchester City played to a draw at St. James’ Park and now head to Etihad Stadium to break the series tie. They will face off against one another at 1 p.m. ET on Wednesday. On Sunday, the Magpies and West Ham United tied 2-2, good for one point each. Speaking of close games: Man City fell a goal shy of Southampton on Sunday, losing 1-0. After their draw, Newcastle will be looking to earn the full three points in this match.

City is further boosted by the return of John Stones, who will be making his first start since sustaining an ankle injury. Though the top two team is riding off a huge momentum, Newcastle is currently unbeaten in its last two league contests against Manchester City.
